Our Range of Yurts

Sea View Yurt

We will let the pictures do most of the talking, however a yurt is a simple yet sophisticated, beautiful, and comfortable circular structure developed over millennia to help nomads survive and thrive in some of the nicest and also some of the most inhospitable areas in the world.

The yurts at the Hillfort are Mongolian Gers and unlike the steeper roofed Kyrghyz yurt style they represent elements of the Buddhist faith. With the Shape, colours, decorative stylings and ornaments of the wooden elements of the yurt being influenced by the artistic style found in Buddhist monasteries of Mongolia. Such yurts are called “uyangiin ger”, literally meaning “home of melodies”.So if you feel like impersonating Ghengis Khan for a week or fancy being enchanted by the home of melodies, please enquire about booking!

 The Location

The Sea View Yurt is situated on a perch at the top of our campsite, giving some of the best and most effortless views of the beautiful Strumble head, also including what we believe is the best sunset in Pembrokeshire as the sun dives into the Irish Sea. By effortless we mean that this view is attainable by taking one step out of your yurt door! If you’re feeling a little more energetic there is a rocky outcrop 50 yards to your right to give an excellent perspective of the yurt, coast, sea and skyscapes. Out to your left with a bit more of a walk is the Hillforts very own mountain allowing which gives a complete 360 degree panoramic view of the Pembrokeshire national parks amazing coast line and a watchman view back over the campsite.

Fire Pit and Terrace

A few more steps will have you entering your private clearing with the new and improved kitchen area serving a heather encroached sunset viewing terrace, with seating and a pub style table to taste Pembrokeshire’s local ingredients or whatever you’ve managed to concoct. For those wannabe nomads there is a fire pit provided with complimentary firewood per booking, more is available upon request at a charge.

Group Sizes

The yurt is 6m in diameter so there is plenty of space for a group size ranging from 4-6 peoples. The yurt is setup with a double bed, comfortable sofa beds and dining area. We cater for many different groups,(Young families/older families/new families/ groups of friends/couples) and can cater the layout and furniture to suit upon request, obviously there are some things we can and can’t do so if you have requests about differing group sizes please feel free to contact us and will see how we can help.

The Yurts Warmth and Facilities

The yurt is insulated and we have found warm enough during the Summer months is comfortable enough at most times. We have packed a few extra blankets into the chests in front of the bed in case there is a colder than usual snap and we recommend you bring the right amount of bedding for your needs.

If you need anything else please ask John and he will always endeavour to help you with a whisk to your cake mix or a fish filleting knife for your freshly caught mackerel.

Hillfort Yurt

Our Hillfort yurt is situated in its own private enclave, having a large circular area of grass hidden amongst the gorse, with enough space to park your car, have a fire, play games and relax at your private pub bench. The yurt stands at an access point to several of the snaking footpaths that run up the small ‘mountain behind, Garn Fechan. So we thought we’d call it Hillfort yurt as it stands guard of these trails.
